PdMA 13th Annual Motor Reliability Conference

The 13th Annual Motor Reliability Technical Conference was held May 15 - 17, 2007. Over 110 attendees met to network and learn about the latest motor reliability technologies. In a change from prior years, this year’s conference was held at the TradeWinds Island Resorts in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Kicking off the conference was the Welcome Reception where the newest PdMA product, MCEGold ™ was on display. In addition to meeting the PdMA staff, the Welcome Reception is the perfect place to reacquaint with industry colleagues and meet new ones in a relaxed atmosphere.

There were three stars of the Welcome Reception – MCEGold™, The Bull (ridden by Hebert Libreros), and The Donkey (the grand prize?).

Contestants were chosen to participate in the “Guess How Long Hebert Can Stay on the Bull” contest and given necessary provisions, a cowboy hat, kerchief, trusty steed (hobby horse), and a large can of Pork & Beans. The contestants were Don Cox - General Motors, Andrew Cummings - Snell Inspections, Jeff Backer - Snell Inspections, Stacey Weston - I/N Kote, Tom Besco - Hannon Electric, and Jim Denis - I/N Tek.

The grand prize winner was Jim Denis, who was given a $300 Best Buy gift card in lieu of the donkey, which would not fit in his suitcase for the trip home.

Wednesday began with the key note speaker Steve Thomas presenting his change management strategies. Interspersed throughout the next two days were case studies presented by PdMA users and Fault Zone presentations by PdMA staff.

Wednesday ended with the announcement of the Excellence in Electrical Reliability Award winner. Congratulations to Jeff Brasher - Southern Company, this year’s winner. Read more about Jeff and the award.

Wednesday night everyone convened on the beach for the traditional Beach BBQ. There was good food, entertainment, and games, but most importantly the BBQ provided additional opportunities to network with industry peers.

Thursday continued the learning experience with eleven additional presentations. At the end of the day the final question was…

Where will YOU be next year during the Motor Reliability Technical Conference?
